The history of Paco Lafuente dates back to 1904 when Francisco Lafuente Torrón started a fish salting factory in O Castro, Vilanova de Arousa (Pontevedra), a conservation method of the time.
In 1926, the sons of Francisco Lafuente Torrón, Francisco and Manuel Lafuente González, joined the management of the business. The young managers began their first manufactures in hermetic preserves in 1942. These are the beginnings of canned conservation.
In 1983 Francisco Lafuente González died, leaving the management exclusively to Manuel Lafuente González who, in 1988, retired and handed over the baton to his children. The management is led by Rosa Lafuente Lestón who, together with her brothers, decided to focus their efforts on making high-quality, exclusive products focused on the premium canning niche.
In addition to the Paco Lafuente brand, Rosa Lafuente is created, a differential brand, more modern and focused on a younger audience.
Currently, the company is in its original location in Vilanova de Arousa (Pontevedra) and is 100% owned by the Lafuente family. The management is in charge of Ramón and Francisco Lafuente, nephews of Rosa, grandchildren of Manuel and great-grandchildren of the founder.
To this day, we continue to maintain the know-how of decades, the elaboration in a traditional way, selecting and packing the products by hand and without adding any chemical product. We work with a wide range of products, ensuring the acquisition of the highest quality raw material.
Our location in Vilanova de Arousa, the heart of the Ría to which it gives its name, allows us to obtain excellent raw material for our preserves, since we continue to dedicate ourselves to producing products mainly from the Galician and Coastal Rías.
The Ría de Arosa, due to its unique characteristics, is rich in minerals and nutrients, provided by its rivers and by special protection from the north currents by the Cíes, Ons and Sálvora islands. These special characteristics favor the development of a very particular marine biodiversity.
